The inspiration for the Drago Desk came from Zrubec's own experience of working from home and the desire to provide a comfortable space for his Weimaraner. He noticed that his dog would often try to squeeze under his standard desk, causing a mess with cables and cords. This led him to design a desk that not only provides a functional workspace but also offers a safe and cozy spot for pets to rest.

What sets the Drago Desk apart is its versatility and thoughtful design. It is not just a desk or a pet house; it is a place where both humans and pets can bond and spend quality time together. The desk features a spacious box-like structure made from pine plywood, providing a secure space for pets to relax while their owners work.

The Drago Desk can be used as a single or corner solution, offering flexibility to fit different room layouts. By adjusting the position of the worktop, users can achieve three different widths, and with a slightly modified worktop, a corner solution is also possible.

During the design process, Zrubec paid close attention to the ergonomics and safety of the Drago Desk. He wanted to ensure that dogs of all sizes would feel comfortable and secure inside the box. The desk's design features rounded edges to minimize any potential harm, and the main box is closed to keep pets away from cables and cords.

Another important consideration was the choice of materials. Zrubec tested various fabrics for the cushions to ensure they were tear-resistant, and he carefully coated the plywood boards to avoid any potential poisoning. The result is a well-crafted and pet-friendly desk that prioritizes the well-being of both humans and their furry companions.

The Drago Desk project started in July 2018 and was completed in August 2020 in Zrubec's workshop in Svaty Anton, Slovakia. The meticulous attention to detail and the extensive research conducted during the design process are evident in the final product.

Recognizing its innovative design and contribution to enhancing the bond between humans and pets, the Drago Desk was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
